The Global Initiative on Ageing (GIA) is a project conceived by a group of civic leaders from Malaga – including Malaga City Council and CIFAL Málaga – that aims to coordinate with different institutions and proposals of the United Nations in order to mitigate the generation gap and develop capacities around the world on issues related to ageing. Among these institutions are the Universidad de Málaga, whose Vice-Rector for Studies, Ernesto Pimentel Sánchez, has met with the ambassador and representative of the initiative, Luis Gallegos; the director of United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), Alex Mejia; and the director of Cifal Malaga, Julio Andrade Ruiz.
