The Director of United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), Alex Mejia, and Ambassador Luis Gallegos, representative of the Global Initiative on Ageing, presented today at an event held in Ayuntamiento de Málaga and attended by the Mayor, Francisco de la Torre, the ‘Global Initiative on Ageing’ Foundation (GIA Foundation), whose main objective is to raise awareness about the challenges and opportunities that the aging of the population brings to a society, and develop the capacities and skills of policy makers, governments, civil society, academia and the media, on public policies, best practices and lessons learned from governments specialized in this field. The GIA Foundation seeks to become a global knowledge hub on ageing, exploring changes in the long-term economic, social and geopolitical implications of this demographic, while providing support and coordination to create a cadre of professionals capable of dealing with the new governance model of society’s ageing, promoting global coordination mechanisms. #envejecimiento #ageing #fundacion
